National assembly on honor killings : Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif demanded a full investigation into the honor killing involving Balochistan Minister Sardar Faraz Bugti.
This demand was raised in the National Assembly during a heated session.
At the end of the week, a video of the double murder surfaced on social media.
The footage sparked nationwide outrage and had a negative impact on the media.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti was also criticized for failing to take early action.
Demand for Punishment for the Murderers
The Prime Minister and the National Party demanded strict punishment for those involved in the double murder.
They warned that such acts harm society and erode cultural and moral values.
This demand reflected the public’s emotions of justice and fairness.
In the assembly, members strongly condemned the killings and called for tough legal action.
The federal government was urged to collect full details of the case in collaboration with the provincial government.
They were also asked to begin immediate action to arrest the accused.
MNAs Shazia Marri, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Shahida Rehmani, Mehreen Razzak Bhutto, Agha Fatehullah, and others signed the adjournment motion.
The National Party also demanded future implementation of strict punishments for similar crimes.
They believe harsh penalties would deter others from committing such offenses.
Party President Ayub Malik criticized the government for ignoring similar incidents a week ago.
He called the government’s inaction deeply disappointing and unacceptable.
Order for the Legal Arrest of the Murderer
The statement described the Balochistan incident as a serious violation of human rights.
It showed that lawlessness, or “the law of the jungle,” still exists in the region.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow for the victims and their families.
He said it was urgent to prevent such crimes from continuing.
This brutal murder has plunged the entire country into mourning.
Lawmakers demanded that all involved be arrested and punished according to the law.
They also urged the government to enforce the Supreme Court’s decision.
The court had declared the “Jee Kar Ke” practice (blood money settlements) illegal.
A National Party leader warned that the criminals would try to escape justice.
He said many criminals avoid punishment by paying money to the victim’s family.
This practice denies true justice and causes more pain to the victims’ families.
According to the Balochistan Ministry Office, Mr. Sharif spoke with the Chief Minister on Monday.
He stressed that no one is above the law, regardless of position or status.
He instructed the provincial government to bring the accused to justice in line with legal and cultural values.
Meanwhile, lawmakers from the People’s Party submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat.
They demanded a debate on the brutal murder of a man and a woman in the name of so-called “honor.”
The debate continued for several hours, during which various witnesses gave statements.
