A man has died and nine people were taken to the hospital after eating broccoli in Italy.
The broccoli has now been recalled across the country because of a dangerous outbreak.
Luigi Di Sarno, 52, was on holiday with his family when they all got sick.
They had eaten broccoli and sausage sandwiches from a food stall.

Nine other people also got sick after eating the same kind of sandwich.
They all bought it from the same street food vendor.
Now, officials are telling people not to eat broccoli and are recalling it across the country.
Health officials
Health officials think the illness might be caused by botulism.
. The person who died was 52-year-old Luigi Di Sarno.
Four others also got sick — two women in their 40s and two 17-year-olds.
All of them had to go to the hospital.
Mr. Di Sarno was driving his family home from their holiday in Calabria.
On the way, they stopped in Diamante, a town by the coast in southern Italy, to grab something to eat.
All five of them ate the same meal from a food truck.
Later, they all started feeling sick with symptoms of botulism, which doctors believe came from contaminated broccoli in the meal.
Two of the people were in serious condition when they arrived at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
It attacks the nervous system and can make it hard to breathe or move muscles.
About 1 in 10 people who get it may die.
The infection is very rare and usually happens after eating contaminated food.
Local news said that the Paola Public Prosecutor’s Office quickly seized all jars of broccoli in oil.
. They are now trying to find out how the poison got into the food.
Mr. Di Sarno was known as an artist and musician. On Thursday, he was taking his family back to their home in Cercola, near Naples.
While driving on the highway near Lagonegro in Potenza, Mr. Di Sarno suddenly felt very sick. He had to stop the car in a small town in Basilicata.
Emergency services
Emergency services arrived quickly, but sadly, Mr. Di Sarno passed away before he could reach the hospital. Doctors will do an autopsy to find out what caused his death.
Other people, not just Mr. Di Sarno’s family, also got sick after eating food from the same vendor. They were taken to a hospital in Cosenza.
Authorities quickly took away the jars of broccoli in oil. Local news says the likely cause of the illness is botulism.
Botulism has been a big news story in Italy recently.
. This stand was at Fiesta Latin, an event that took place from July 22 to 25 in Monserrato.
Because of these cases, health officials sent special medicine called antitoxin serum to help treat those who got botulism.
The Health and Welfare Department of Calabria said:
“We have started the emergency plan for these cases. This plan says we must immediately tell the Poison Control Centre in Pavia. This centre is the only one in the country that handles botulism. The antitoxin serum is kept only by the Ministry of Health in special safe places. It is given out only through the Poison Control Centre in Lombardy.”
