Norman Eshley, best known for his role in the classic British sitcom George and Mildred, has died at the age of 80.
He was a familiar face on TV for decades and much loved for his sharp, comedic style.
Fans and fellow actors are remembering him as a talented performer who brought joy to many.
Norman Eshley, the actor best known for his role in George and Mildred, has died at the age of 80, his agent has confirmed.
He had been living with cancer and passed away on August 2 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. His wife, Rachel Eshley, was by his side.
His agent, Thomas Bowington, said:

His wife Rachel added:
“Although our time together wasn’t long enough, I will always be grateful for the wonderful memories we shared. He was my husband and best friend, and my heart will always be with him.”
.He starred alongside Brian Murphy, Yootha Joyce, and Sheila Fearn.
The show was a spin-off of Man About The House, where Eshley also acted — playing two different characters across the series.
In his later years, Eshley also turned to writing.
