Kevin De Bruyne says Jack Grealish is treated unfairly because he’s English

The article is over 2 years old.

Jack Grealish scored his first goal of the season in a 3–0 win against Wolves.

Kevin De Bruyne said people judge Grealish more harshly than foreign players.

“If foreign players go out at night, no one says anything,” De Bruyne said.

“But if Jack does it, he gets criticised.”

Kevin De Bruyne says Jack Grealish gets unfair criticism

Kevin De Bruyne thinks people are too hard on Jack Grealish.

He believes Jack is judged more because he’s English.

Jack scored his first goal since May in a win against Wolves.

This came after a tough week where many people questioned his performance.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also defended Jack and said he’s doing well.

Jack Grealish was picked to play for England

Jack Grealish was picked to play for England in two Nations League games — one against Italy on Friday and the other against Germany on Monday.

De Bruyne explained that it’s not always about football.

He said people focus more on English players, especially off the pitch.

“It’s just because they’re English,” he said. “People pay more attention to what they do.”

De Bruyne feels this isn’t fair and believes other players from different countries don’t get the same treatment.

He supports Grealish and thinks the focus should stay on his football, not his personal life

He said, “I feel like foreign players can go out for the night, and no one really says anything.”

“But if an English player goes out, it’s always in the news.”

He thinks more people are starting to notice this unfair treatment.

“What Jack does in his private life is his own business,” De Bruyne said.

“No one should care — but people still do.”

Jack Grealish scored just 55 seconds into the game in Manchester City’s 3-0 win at Wolves.

After the match, he said it was fair that people talked about his lack of goals and assists since joining City.

Grealish moved from his boyhood club, Aston Villa, for a record £100 million.

Last season, he only scored three league goals in 28 games — even less than defender Aymeric Laporte.

City manager Pep Guardiola said the high transfer fee adds pressure.

“When a club pays a lot for a player, people expect something amazing,” Pep said.

But he added that Grealish doesn’t need to do anything extra.

Pep said.

“Everyone has good and bad moments. What matters is that Jack plays with the right mindset and tries to help the team.”

De Bruyne said Grealish required time

“That’s all I ask from him.”De Bruyne said Grealish required time to adapt to different expectations as well as surroundings after his move. “With all due respect he was at Villa before and if you lose a game sometimes it is not the end of the world,” he added. “But if we lose a game it is different. We have to perform every week and win games. That is different and what he has had to adjust to. As long as we win the games and he is doing a good job for us, that is all that matters.”
